General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), lawyer Justin Kodua, has cautioned party executives at all levels to desist from endorsing any presidential candidate hopeful.
In a statement issued and signed by the chief scribe, he warned that party executives who would engage in such acts would be punished.
He explained that such endorsements are in violation of Article 2(3) and 2(4) of the party’s constitution.
The statement further noted that in the Code of Conduct as stated in the Articles quoted, the prevention of party executives from endorsing candidates is to foster the spirit of healthy inter-party contests by guaranteeing equal opportunity for all stakeholders.
The statement was issued following the public endorsement of Dr. Bawumia, the Vice President by Bernard Antwi Bosiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman.
The statement condemned the endorsement and revealed Mr. Bernard Antwi Bosiako has been cautioned.
The party has further cautioned all aspiring candidates to desist from mounting billboards and running campaigns since the party have not officially opened nominations for such activities.
