IMF to begin another discussion with govt today

A team from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be in Ghana from today, Monday, September 26 to October 7.

The team will be in the country to continue discussions with the government on policies and reforms that could be supported by a lending arrangement.

The team is expected to engage with other stakeholders during the visit.

The IMF team will be led by Stéphane Roudet, the Mission Chief for Ghana.

The first team arrived in Ghana in July of this year to assess the economic situation and discuss the broad lines of the government’s Enhanced Domestic Program, which could be supported by an IMF lending arrangement.

Vice President Bawumia, Finance Minister Ofori-Atta, and the Governor of the Bank of Ghana met with the IMF team.

The team also met with the Finance Committee of Parliament, civil society organisations, and development partners such as UNICEF and the World Bank to discuss social spending.
