Several Ghanaian youth engaging in rituals just to make quick money, let’s watch it- Criminologist

A criminologist and lecturer has bemoaned the desire for quick money on the part of some young people, a situation he says is pushing several of them to engage in voodoo practices.

According to Mr. Edgar Tachie Akunnor, some young people are obsessed with becoming wealthy at any cost, regardless of hard work.

He asserted that the promotion of quick money by self-proclaimed ritualists on public television has also influenced this obsession.

He stated that these are the outcomes of these television programs.

“Today’s youth are obsessed with making quick money. They do not want to do any kind of decent or hard work. This type of voodoo and occultism is heavily promoted on television. They watch these programs because they want to make money as soon as possible without having to work for it.”

He was responding to recent reports of alleged ritual killings in various parts of the country.

He has called for a national dialogue on the issue and has also asked the government to implement anti-poverty policies that could aid in the country’s abolition.

He was speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.Fm.
