Police investigate stolen of Sekyikrom chief’s money & ornaments

The Eastern Regional Police Command is investigating the circumstance which led to the disappearance of an amount of two hundred thousand [GH¢200,000], gold, clothes and other ornaments from the Palace of the Chief of Sekyikrom, Nana Osae Anka IV, in the Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipal Assembly of the Eastern.

The incident occurred about a week ago when some people suspected to be members of a faction of the throne stormed his palace, broke into his room while away and made away with those properties and money.

The case was reported to the Nsawam Police, who transferred the case, to the Regional Headquarters in Koforidua for further investigations.

The Sekyikrom Traditional Council explained that even though the case is with the police, measures need to be put in place to ensure peace while investigations are ongoing.

A Member of the Traditional Council, Opanyin Ansah Duodu, addressing the media insisted that Nana Osae Anka IV remains the legitimate chief of Sekyikrom.

He said the attack occurred two weeks ago, while Nana Osae Anka IV had travelled to the United Kingdom (UK) for a few days and his absence paved the way for the other faction to impose another person as chief of Sekyikrom.

The traditional council emphasized that “whoever is claiming to be the chief of Sekyikrom is an imposter and should be discredited”.

The council is cautioning the public not to engage any self-acclaimed chief for any business in the community.

“I want to state categorically that Nana Osae Anka IV is the legitimate chief of Sekyikrom and no other person”.
