A young woman’s body was discovered in an abandoned mining pit at Konongo-Odumase in the Ashanti Region’s Asante Akim Central Municipality.
The unidentified woman was reportedly using a private toilet facility that sank into the pit dug beneath it.
According to available information, it took Fire officers nearly three hours to recover the lifeless body with the assistance of an excavator operator.
The body has since been transported and deposited at a morgue by police.
After the body was recovered, the pit and toilet were covered.
