Hon. Dr. Osei Adutwum, Minister of Education, has praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for seeing what most Ghanaians couldn’t see in technical education and putting the necessary resources to make technical and vocational education lucrative and appealing to the teeming youth.

According to him, the president, in collaboration with the board in charge of technical and vocational training, recently implemented a dual system of study that will allow students to work hand in hand with industry while still in school.

He went on to say that most developed countries, such as Germany and China, use a dual learning system, which has helped them tremendously.

“The Ctvet board have made technical and vocational training more attractive, in that they have instituted what is called the dual system as part of their training which will go along to helping students acquire both practical and theoretical knowledge in their field of study” he added.

He later revealed that the government had provided modern types of equipment to most technical schools in the country as part of measures to make tvet study more appealing.

Dr. Osei Adutwum made these remarks at the Accra Technical Training Center in Kokomlemle, Accra, during the 2022 Tvet expo.

The three-day event aims to showcase the majority of the works produced by Ghana’s various technical institutions.

The Minister couldn’t hide his joy and excitement during one of his regular visits to one of the country’s technical schools, specifically the Rara Senior Technical High, where students used natural sunlight to generate electricity, supplying the chief palace and the community’s marketplace.
