The Ghana AIDS Commission has reminded Ghanaians to condomize their sex, especially today, February 14, 2023, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day.
According to the Commission, people will invariably engage in sexual activities, and it is prudent for them to wear a condom whenever they have sex.
Mr. Atuahene Kyeremeh, Director General of the Commission, stated that condoms provide dual protection for users, including the prevention of unwanted pregnancies and STIs.
He explained that without protection, the chances of contracting infections such as syphilis, HIV, and chancroid are high.
“Because these diseases are primarily transmitted through sexual contact, it is critical to use a condom when having sex. It is critical to do so in order to avoid contracting an STI from an infected person. You reduce your chances of contracting an STI by protecting yourself.”
Those who prefer unprotected sex, he says, are engaging in risky behaviour. The use of a condom is the most secure method of having sex. The claim that using a condom makes sex less enjoyable is a myth that has not been validated. That is a state of mind. We need to change our minds and always use condoms.
Remember, as we celebrate Valentine’s Day, that HIV and other STOs are real, and we urge Ghanaians to protect themselves,” he added.
