Sonnie Badu, a gospel musician, has made a strong case for fellow musicians and the difficulties they face in receiving support from corporate Ghana and the Church.
He asserted that gospel musicians struggle to raise support from corporate Ghana.
He told Daniel Dadson on Rainbow Entertainment that there are corporate toss gospel musicians when they apply for sponsorship.
The situation he lamented is terrible in that most of the gospel musicians invest their monies in events and other activities and never get anything back.
“The gospel musicians have a difficult time raising funds. It is extremely difficult for a gospel musician to make an impression. When you go to them for sponsorship, they will toss you.”
He urged businesses, including those that make soft drinks, to always use gospel musicians as brand ambassadors.
He stated that secular musicians could work for alcoholic beverage companies but gospel musicians could not, so there should be a balance.
Sonnie Badu said some of these brands frustrate gospel musicians when they go to them for support.
On the issue of the Church, Sonnie Badu said, ”the pastor will promise but will never deliver. They will ask you to come to their office or home and make you wait but will not help. They want to subdue you and make it look as if you are begging them. The church would not help you”.
For him, if gospel musicians can have sponsorship from the pastors they serve will make a greater impact.
