Member of Parliament for Builsa South Dr. Clement Apaak has said the Minority Caucus was prepared to support former president John Dramani Mahama in his quest to contest the presidential primaries of the National Democratic Congress.
The lawmaker in a tweet noted that the Minority was fully behind the former president.
This was after Mr. Mahama officially declared his intention to contrast after he met with the Minority Caucus on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.
Dr. Apaak had consistently called on the former President on Mr. Mahama to contest.
In several publications and opinions expressed, the MP argued that Mr. Mahama remains the best bet for the NDC.
To him, he has tried and tested and represents the only hope for the NDC to secure victory for the NDC in 2024.
His latest tweet read “JM met with us, NDC MPs, earlier today (21/2/2023) at his office. He informed us of his intention to contest to be Flagbearer of the NDC and ultimately the Presidency. We assured him of our full and unflinching support. #JM2024!”
Former President John Dramani has declared his intention to contest.
He announced his decision when he met with the Minority Caucus in Parliament.
All NDC MPs in Parliament have unanimously endorsed John Dramani as flagbearer.
Present at the meeting were former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, former NDC Campaign Manager for the 2020 general elections, Professor Joshua Alabi and former Information Minister, Kofi Totobi Quakyi.
It is expected that the former President will make a public declaration in the coming days.
