A taxi with the license plate GX 7007-13 hit a pedestrian at the Abeka traffic light.
The taxi registered with the Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly collided with the pedestrian who was crossing the street.
The taxi driver allegedly ran a red light and hit the young man, who was identified as a student at Ghana Telecom University.
According to witnesses, the driver ran the red light, and the pedestrian crossed when the traffic signal turned green.
Several eyewitnesses described the situation as unfortunate and irresponsible on the part of the driver.
Some of them stated “The taxi driver ran the red light. The young man crossed the street when the light turned green. He could have killed him. That was reckless driving. That is something that the drivers around here enjoy doing. They do not stop when the traffic lights turn red. They will drive through it, so some of us are afraid to use this traffic light.”
Another eyewitness stated “He knocked him, and the car threw the young man into the air, and he nearly crashed to the ground before landing on the car’s screen. The windscreen of the car was shattered. The young man had bruises and was on the verge of collapsing “.
Another person stated “The pedestrian could have been killed. He hit him so hard. He was extremely fortunate. He was fortunate because he flew into the air but landed on the car’s windshield. Some of the drivers here are unprofessional. They constantly disregard traffic laws and run red lights.”
They revealed that the driver placed the injured young man in his car and pretended to drive him to the hospital.
The incident occurred on the evening of Friday, February 24, 2023.
