The Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council has, in consultation with the Regional Security Council (REGSEC), suspended the use of auto rickshaws (Pragya), tricycles and motorcycles (Okada Operators) within the Central Business Area of the Ho Municipality.
A statement issued by the Council said the suspension would take effect on Monday, March 6, 2023, from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm.
According to the statement, ”the suspension is necessitated by the quest of the Council to extend the highest standard of courtesy to the Dignitaries and Guests who would be attending the 66th Independence Anniversary Parade at the Regional Youth Resource Centre, Adaklu”.
It added ”Furthermore, considering the expected volume of vehicular traffic on that day, coupled with the need to mitigate the dangers, especially road crashes, associated with Okada Operation, the suspension has become necessary.
It is the expectation of the Volta Regional Co-ordinating Council (VRCC) that Okada Operators would respectfully comply with the suspension in order not to be found at the wrong side of the law.”
