The LEC Group in its annual campus tour partnered with the Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI), a free enterprise and public policy research think tank on the theme, “Mind Shift” for the 2023 student event at the Koforidua Technical University.

In attendance were the lecturers, students, and the general public. It was a huge gathering of 950 participants yearning to cause a change for themselves and society through entrepreneurship.

In a presentation on the content of the book authored by Eamonn Butler of Adam Smith Institute, The Primer: An Introduction to Entrepreneurship, the Executive Director at ILAPI, Mr. Peter Bismark Kwofie, espoused the views on our very existence because of entrepreneurs. In a discussion, he encouraged participants to be innovative and be able to respond to changes in market outcomes, value chains, red tapes, and competitions.

“You must master the art of identifying opportunities, forming views on such opportunities, assessing the risk, and evaluating the cost involved,” Mr. Peter said.
The departure from existing products and obsolete ways of doing things come with innovation and creativity in combining the factors of production. This comes with hard work and this is why society must always encourage and reward champions of innovation. The ILAPI team distributed 270 of the books to the participants and Mr. Peter explained that the book is structured for students, entrepreneurs, and policymakers to understand the socio-economic importance of entrepreneurial activities.

Both university lecturers and students received copies of the books and were further directed to ILAPI’s website to download or read online. The books were free for all and thank to NFS and IEA UK for the reproduction of the books in Ghana.

The rush for the books was not different from the previous event at UEW in the central region. Students and lecturers expressed interest to read and share with others new ways of understanding entrepreneurship and contextualizing it for economic growth. A student participant said,” I will need copies for a community library in my hometown”.

Again, the LEC Group’s CEO, Mr. Albert Kusi also admonished students to take advantage to understand the intricacies of entrepreneurship. He professed that Entrepreneurship goes beyond profit-making and starting a business.

The event created an opportunity to network with students and speakers of different backgrounds including, psychology, blockchain, real estate, journalism, and business development. The huge student participation is a signal of creating more entrepreneurs for economic development. It is therefore imperative to encourage society to reward efforts and place value on entrepreneurial activities.
