The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairman in Ashaiman, Alexander Amanor, has condemned the military brutalities constituents suffered at the hands of the soldiers following the killing of a soldier in the area.
Leading residents in the area to address a press conference, he said the community is not a war zone, and anyone who wants to stage a war should go to Ukraine.
The residents who were clad in red expressed their disappointment and sent a word to the president saying, ”I want to send word to him [President] that what has happened to us is a big blow to us. We are not disturbed. This battle is for the Lord.
Ashaiman is not a battleground. Indeed the battleground is in Ukraine. Anybody who wants to wage battle should go to Ukraine. But if you come here to wage war on us with soldiers, armoured cars, helicopters, all we will say is that the battle is for the Lord.”
In his address, he referred the President to Psalm 144, indicating that the residents are protected, guided and would be under the protection of the Lord.
He said he quoted the bible because the President and his Finance Minister are fond of quoting the bible.
”This is not Ukraine. They should not dare because the Lord is our protector. The battle they have brought here, the Lord will protect us.”
He described the soldier’s death as unconstitutional and stated that the police, not the military, is the appropriate institution to investigate.
