The National Peace Council has condemned the military for attacking residents of Ashaiman following the death of a soldier Sheriff Imoro.
The Council noted that the attack was unfortunate and unconstitutional and has advised them to allow the police to take charge of the probe into the killing of a soldier at Ashaiman rather than invading the area and brutalizing residents.
George Amoh, Executive Secretary of the Council, said “I believe the military should have used restraint. The police have the authority to conduct an investigation. The military should have allowed the police to investigate because they have the resources and strategies to find whoever was involved.”
Meanwhile, six persons arrested in connection with the alleged killing of a soldier, Imoro Sherrif, at Ashaiman have been remanded into prison custody.
Four of the suspects allegedly bought the phone of the soldier at different points.
The suspects were arrested after an intelligence-led, week-long police operation.
Last Friday, the police arrested two other suspects — Samuel Tetteh, alias Wiper, and Abubakar Sadick, alias Birdman.
Two additional suspects, Yussif Mohammed and Abdul Gafaru Abdul Karim, were arrested last Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
