Speaker Alban Bagbin has postponed voting on a report of the Appointments Committee on new Ministers appointed by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to Friday, March 24, 2023, following a heated debate from both sides of the House.
Minority Leader Dr. Cassie Ato Forson stated in his submission that the Minority caucus will not approve any of the vetted nominees.
He then requested that the House be adjourned until tomorrow (Friday) so that the House could vote on the matter.
However, after his debate and argument on the need for the new appointees to be approved, Majority Leader Osei Kyei Mensah-Bobsu asked the Speaker to put the question so that the House could decide on the matter.
The Speaker in his ruling said the voting would be done on Friday, March 24, 2023.
The Speaker earlier turned down a request from the Minority caucus for more time to peruse the report.
K.T Hammond, Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, was nominated as Minister of Trade and Industry, with Dr. Stephen Amoah, Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, serving as his deputy.
Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, was also appointed Minister of Food and Agriculture.
Stephen Asamoah Boateng was named Minister of Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs.
