The US government has stated that it will continue to support good governance initiatives in Africa.
Vice President Kamala Harris, who is currently on a state visit to Ghana, stated that good governance is a critical component of democracy.
She claims that recent calls show that the vast majority of Africans prefer democracy to other forms of government.
According to the Vice President, this reflects our shared desire for freedom, opportunity, and transparency, as well as accountability, free and fair elections, an orderly transition of power, and the protection of fundamental human rights.
This she said is a priority for the American people be a global priority.
To this end, she added that the US government will continue to work alongside democratic governments, and in support of the democratic aspirations of the people of this continent.
She added good governance delivers predictability, stability and rule of law and that is what businesses need to survive.
