Abaasa Technical Institute is enraged. Teachers have warned wee peddlers in Enyan Abaasa Community, Ajumako Enyan Essiam District, to stop selling wee to the school’s students.
According to school officials, some youth groups are hiding in the community and allegedly selling marijuana to their students.
Speaking on the subject, one of the school’s officials lamented that “there is a centre where they go and smoke ‘wee’.” We are sending this warning to those selling wee to our students. Those who smoke the wee are causing us problems in terms of discipline. As a result, we are appealing to the community’s traditional authorities to assist us in catching these miscreants. Students are not permitted to enter that location. We will pounce on them if they do not stop what they are doing”.
The issue now is that when a student visits the ‘wee’ joint, they recommend it to other students. This undermines student discipline and encourages more misbehaviour. We require assistance in dealing with these individuals.”
Mrs. Sabina Aba Wilson, the District Education Director of Ajumako Enyan Essiam, also urged parents to prioritise their children’s education.
He advised them to take advantage of the free senior high school policy and make it available to their children.
According to her, most parents refuse to support their children’s basic needs in the name of Free Senior High School.
She stated that Enyan Abaasa Technical Institute is close to her heart and that she is appealing to Chiefs, Stakeholders, NGOs, and Private Individuals to support Enyan Abaasa Technical Institute because it is a Technical School that should be considered in its development.
In an interview with the media, Osagyefo Kwamena Akonu, the Paramount Chief of Enyan Abaasa Traditional Council and Vice President of the Central Regional House of Chiefs, bemoans the state of the Enyan Abaasa Technical Institute.
According to the Chief, it appears that the government has neglected the development of the Enyan Abaasa Technical Institute.
He noted that Enyan Abaasa Technical Institute currently lacks a board of governors to oversee the school’s affairs.
