Residents of Estate-Ahodwo and Bibiani’s California suburbs have raised worry about the decrepit footbridge.
The residents who are upset claim that the footbridge has become a death trap and that it should be fixed.
The bridge, according to them, connects the two communities.
They have requested that the officials in the Bibiani Anhweaso Bekwai municipality repair the footbridge to facilitate travel.
Residents told Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm that the problem has hampered their mobility.
They complained that the footbridge’s poor condition has hampered access to various sites in Bibiani and is now a danger to those who use it.
They claim that the footbridge cannot be used when there is severe rain.
The Estate-Ahodwo Unit Committee Chairman, Edward Twumasi Ankrah, told Kwabena Sowah regional correspondent that not only is the footbridge a threat to their life, but the darkness in the area at night has created an opportunity for criminals to attack them.
They added that these crooks target people who use the footbridge to retrieve their mobile phones, money, and other valuables.
The chairman, on the other hand, urged the area’s Member of Parliament, Alfred Obeng Boateng, and the rest of the Bibiani Municipal Assembly to repair the footbridge.
