The campaign team of Dr. Kwabena Duffour, one of the aspiring presidential candidates in the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s approaching presidential election, has officially petitioned the Electoral Commission (EC) citing concerns about the upcoming polls.
The campaign team petitioned the Electoral Commission over what it considers to be an attempt by the NDC Elections Committee to conduct the 13th May Presidential Primaries using a “very fraudulent voters register.”
According to the team, it has highlighted concerns about various inconsistencies and irregularities in the impending elections.
Following that, a meeting was called in which the party offered details on the points he had brought.
Dr. Duffour, on the other hand, stated that the answers he was given contained anomalies, including the register.
“A cursory analysis of the information given us, further confirms our concerns about
excessive anomalies in what the Party is presenting to the EC as the Voters Register.”
The team has therefore called in the EC to help address the issues since it could have serious legal ramifications.
“We are by this letter drawing your attention to possible legal ramifications of the actions
and inactions of the NDC Elections Committee.
We will wish that as the Body that shall supervise the election, you bring all key actors
to an urgent round table discussion within your ambit to iron out the issues so as not
to be ambushed in a minefield that has catastrophic consequences.”
