Former Buem constituency MP Daniel Kwaku Ashiamah has advised Dr. Kwabena Duffour to reconsider forming a political party to run in the 2024 presidential election.
In response to rumours that the former governor of the central bank is intending to start a new political party after withdrawing from the race, he warned him against it.
He added, “I’ll not dream about it because I respect Dr. Duffour.” We were in this country when Dr. Obed Asamoah departed to start a political party, which failed. You cannot leave the NDC and start a successful party. You will waste your money if you do this.
The former lawmaker feels that Dr. Duffour’s formation of a new party will be counterproductive.
A choice like this will not fly. I advise him to reverse his decision. He made no progress. The NDC is a powerful party, and Dr. Duffour, with all due respect, should not do that. Anyone who suggests that you spend his money is a liar. He should use that money to help his children and the NDC.
He should not consider starting a new political party; it will fail. It will only dissolve the NDC for a little period of time, but we will emerge stronger and united, and Dr. Duffour will return later. So, why go when you know you will return?
He recommended he to approach the party’s elders and get his grievances and concerns handled rather than leaving the party and starting a new party.
“I am pleading with him to accept any invitation from the party hierarchy that comes his way so that the party can move forward.”
He stated that while the former minister had legitimate issues, he should not have gone to court when they could have been resolved properly.
