The Akyems want to defeat Mahama for the third time with Bawumia – Analyst

Former President John Dramani Mahama has been advised by a political analyst to tread carefully and implement measures to avoid surprises in the 2024 presidential election.

According to William Owusu Ansah, efforts are being made by people she refers to as the ‘Akyems’ to elect Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

”Mahama should be wary of the Akyems,” he warned. They’ve beaten him twice. They defeated him in 2016 and will do so again in 2020. They intend to defeat him once more in 2024. This time, they intend to defeat Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the candidate. They are already in motion, and Mr. Mahama must remain vigilant or he will be caught off guard.”

”Mahama should not think for a moment that the 2024 elections will be an easy ride,” he continued. It will be a difficult election, but he will be surprised by the turnout, he jokes. He must heed my warning and take the necessary steps to thwart the Akyems’ plans to defeat him once more.”

Mr. Ansah, who was speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline, added that if Bawumia is elected as the NPP’s candidate, he will have an advantage over Mahama in the north.

”If Dr. Bawumia can work seriously and effectively, and with Akyem support, he could be elected. It is possible to break the 8-year jinx. If Bawumia is elected as the NPP’s presidential candidate, he may have an advantage in the north. Several factors could come into play.

Another point I’d like to bring up is that a candidate’s choice of running mate may also determine their victory. So candidates should think about this if they want to win the 2024 elections,” he concluded.
