Patrick Yaw Boamah, Okaikoi Central Member of Parliament, has granted an apprentice’s request for a sewing machine for her to further her studies as a fashion designer.
Victoria Owens had called on Rainbow Radio 87.5fm’s Frontline morning show to ask the MP who was a guest on the show to help her with the machine.
The young woman stated that her dream of becoming a fashion designer would be unattainable because she could not afford the equipment and other items on her trainer’s list.
Given this, the MP who was not the MP for the constituency from where the lady contacted agreed to fund the purchase of the machine so she could learn the trade.
The MP, who is also the Vice Chairman of Parliament’s Finance Committee, stated that the young lady’s request was something he was already doing for other people and saw it as an opportunity for someone in need.
Olivia Owens, a Medie resident, stated that she wants to master a skill so that she can start her own business and be self-employed.
When she arrived at Rainbow Radio’s studios to retrieve the machine, she expressed her gratitude to the MP through the host, Kwabena Agyapong.
“I am grateful to the Member of Parliament.” I pray that any money he gets to buy the machine for me would be multiplied many times over by God. I’m overjoyed, and I appreciate his thoughtfulness.”
The MP, for his part, believes that we should use our power to challenge society, and that is what he symbolises.
He believes that influential people can lend a helping hand to those in need.
