Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has taken a swipe at Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia over the latter’s reaction to the cost of a waakye he bought.
A video of the reaction of the Vice President has gone viral after he shouted “eiii” at the price of waakye he bought at a popular waakye joint
The second gentleman of the land had gone to buy two packs of waakye, a Ghanaian delicacy prepared from rice and beans at a cost of Ghc60.
Although it is not known when exactly the video was taken, the lawmaker says the Vice President ought to ask himself whether his administration has delivered to Ghanaians they promised.
In the said video the vice president who was in the company of the Minister of Communication and Digitalisation, Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, ordered two packs of waakye for himself and the minister.
“Let me have some waakye with some wele (coat), some eggs and talia (spaghetti) … and whatever you do add one for the minister for communication,” he said.
He then asked the vendor: “How much is it?”
“It will be GH¢60,” the vendor replied.
Then Bawumia retorted, “GH¢60 eii”, which led to the people around laughing their heads off.
Reacting to the video in a tweet, Dr. Apaak said if as a Vice with all the benefits he gets, he would complain about the cost of waakye, then he should imagine what ordinary Ghanaians including unpaid NABCO trainees would say.
“Bawumia Eii na wu beka! Gh60 for waakye is your score card as head of EMT. You mpo screaming eii, what should the pensioners say; what should the NABCO trainees say? Barefaced corruption, economic mismanagement and reckless borrowing has brought Eii!”
