Two people have picked up nomination forms to run in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Assin North Constituency parliamentary primary in the Central Region.
Charles Opoku and Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei are their names.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Wednesday, May 31, 2023, opened nominations for those interested in the Assin North by-election.
Following a meeting on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, the party made the decision and established the timelines for the internal primary.
It would then hold an internal party primary to select the candidate for the June 7, 2023, parliamentary election.
This comes after Parliament declared the Assin North seat vacant following a unanimous Supreme Court judgement requiring the legislature to remove Gyakye Quayson’s name from all parliamentary records.
The Electoral Commission has also set June 27, 2023, as the date to organise the by-election.
