Member of Parliament for Builsa South has appealed to constituents in the Assin North constituency to vote for James Gyakye Quayson as the MP in the June 27 by-election.

Dr. Clement Apaak believes a vote for him is a vote for justice and fairness.

The MP said the MP whose seat was declared vacant was treated unfairly through the decision of the court.

He described him as a man with integrity, commitment and loyalty.

A vote for him he added is a vote for development.

In a tweet, he said “Vote James Gyakye Quayson as M.P for Assin North. Vote for justice, vote for fairness, vote for commitment, vote for loyalty, vote for integrity, vote for development! Return Hon. Quayson to the 8th Parliament, the power is yours!”

Meanwhile, the NDC has declared that Mr. Gyakye Quayson will go unopposed.

The Assin North National Democratic Congress (NDC) Constituency Chairman, Felix Benefoh, has revealed that James Gyakye Quayson will contest unopposed in the party’s internal process to elect a parliamentary candidate for the upcoming June 27 by-election.

Speaking to Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm, he said it had been a unanimous decision at all levels of the party that Mr. Quayson should go unopposed.

Mr Benefoh stated that the party was working hard to reach every nook and cranny of the constituency and to win a by-election if one were held.

He was optimistic the candidate would win the by-election by a landslide and break his own record, which he garnered in the 2020 parliamentary election.

”As a party, we have agreed that Quayson will run unopposed. He had been through a lot of agony. He is our only hope, and he will easily win the by-election. He is our nominee, and he will run unopposed. We have all agreed as a party that no one should run for office. We believe that after the election, he will be elected as the MP for Assin North.”

”He will win easily, and his victory will surpass that of 2020.” “We are aware that the seat is an NDC seat, but we are not complacent. We understand the politics in this area, and we will work tirelessly to keep the seat.”

”As a party, we will stand by the candidate, support him, and ensure that he wins the by-election,” he stated emphatically.
