Charles Opoku has won the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primary in the Assin North constituency.
He won the race to lead their party in the June 27 by-elections.
Mr. Opoku received 397 votes out of the total valid votes cast, defeating his single opponent, Frederick Freeman Amoah-Kyei, who received 136 votes.
The primary took place on Wednesday, June 7.
It was conducted in the Church of Pentecost in Akonfodi, Assin Bereku, with national officials in attendance, including NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong.
The NPP held the primary to elect a candidate to present it in the upcoming by-election slated for June 27, 2023.
