The Special Prosecutor’s Office has obtained a court order to arrest the former Secretary of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM).
The Special Prosecutor obtained the court order after Mr. Bissue refused to respond to the Special Prosecutor’s invitation last month.
On May 3, 2023, the OSP notified Mr. Bissue that he was a necessary person for the inquiry of the IMCIM’s operations.
On May 22, he was summoned to the investigative body’s offices.
His lawyers reacted by requesting a copy of the petition that served as the basis for this invitation.
They had also requested that the meeting be rescheduled to May 25 due to “a domestic emergency”.
Lawyers for Mr. Bissue say the OSP refused to accept the proposed date of 25th May 2023 and insisted on the May 22 date.
This meeting did not happen causing the OSP to proceed to court to secure an arrest warrant.
