A middle-aged woman was allegedly stripped naked at Kopela in the Upper East Region’s Zebilla District.
The woman (name withheld) was reportedly stripped naked by some young people in the Upper East region’s Zebiila Market as retaliation for an earlier attack.
The perpetrators stated that they attacked her because the Fulanis had often attacked, robbed, and sexually attacked their women.
Mr Musah Barry, General Secretary of Tabital Pulaaku International, voiced concern over the situation.
He believes the woman’s treatment was inhumane and that those responsible should be arrested and prosecuted.
As a result, he has requested that the police investigate the incident and bring the offenders to justice.
Mr. Musah Barry further stated that they will not conceal any Fulanis from engaging in illicit activities.
He also asked them to follow the law to promote peace and security.
“It was unfortunate what happened. How can anyone be so evil as to strip a woman naked in public? I’m heartbroken. I haven’t been able to eat anything since the incident. I am pleading with the police to look into the case and bring the perpetrators to justice.”
“The incident has saddened us as a community.” I’m not sure why this happened. I am confident that Ghanaians, regardless of tribe or religious affiliation, can coexist peacefully. When I originally watched the video, I had no idea it was from Ghana. However, it was from Ghana. People have an unfavourable opinion of Fulanis and assault them whenever they are provoked. As I speak to you, we have had 15 Fulani deaths in the last year. The woman was returning from the market when she was accosted by her assailants, who claimed she was a Fulani and that her people had attacked their people.”
