Lordina The Soprano, a classical gospel musician, believes that the perception that gospel musicians must perform for free is unjust.
She stated that the decision to perform as a gospel musician for free should not be imposed on musicians because it must be personal.
Although God gave gospel musicians talent, managing the talent and nurturing it so that one becomes perfect all come at a cost, according to the talented musician, and musicians must not be taken advantage of in the name of the gospel is free and musicians must perform for free.
She made the remarks in an interview with Daniel Fadson on Rainbow Entertainment.
She told the host to go to the studio, and invest in the composition of songs are expensive.
”If someone offers to do something for you for free, let that person decide. Even our pastors are remunerated when they preach. Some even get paid. So what’s the point of doing it for free? I dressed up for an event and boarded a bus, so even if you don’t want to pay me, you should make sure that I get home safely.”
”I admit that talent is from God, but that same talent is what would help you generate funds to care for yourself. We need to change our mindset. As a designer, when you design for people, you charge them and then use the money to polish your craft so you could do better.”
”I don’t think there is a problem when gospel musicians charge. But if someone wants to do it for free, it is their personal decision,” she stressed.
