In May 2023, inflation increased marginally, rising from 41.2% in April 2023 to 42.2%.
The Government Statistician, Prof. Samuel Kobina Annim, addressing journalists, indicated that the main drivers of this inflation are as follows; food and non-alcoholic beverages constituted 52.4%.
Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas, and other fuels constituted 13.1%, and transport contributed 9.2%.
Clothing and footwear accounted for 6.4%, while furnishings and household equipment accounted for 4.4%. With 0.1%, insurance and financial services were the lowest.
Prof. Annim emphasised that the Ghana Statistical Service data is credible because extensive research has been conducted.
In his address, ge referred to the Greater Accra Region as the most expensive region in Ghana compared to the others.
