‘Reading the Law’, a book authored by one of Ghana’s brilliant private legal practitioners, lawyer Tachie Antiedu, has been accepted as the newest addition to the library of the International Law Institute.
In a brief Facebook post announcing the decision to accept the book into its library collection of books, the Institute stated, ”The newest addition to the ILI’s library: Reading the Law, by Benjamin Tachie Antiedu. In addition to his role as the Assistant Clerk for the Committee on Communications of the Parliament of Ghana, Mr. Antiedu is also a recent participant of several ILI courses”.
The book was written by the lawyer as part of his modest attempt to provide Ghanaian Law Students with more comprehensive guidance on effective ways to study law based solely on the Ghanaian legal context in which RTL was envisioned and birthed.
The book contains four parts. Part 1 contains information on Ghana’s legal education and key learning points. PART 2 provides concise summaries of 8 core subjects taught at the LLB level and is intended to provide easy-to-read material to help LLB students prepare for lectures.
Part 3 covers concise summaries of 4 professional subjects and is designed to introduce LLB Students to Procedural Law with which cases are decided to aid in better appreciation of cases they read.
The final part, Part four sets out over 250 common legal terms to equip LLB Students with the language of the law.
The UG School of Law, UCC Law Faculty, Wisconsin University College, King’s University College, and KAAF University College reviewed and approved the book as study material for LLB students in 2022.
The author has since released the revised edition of the book following the success of the first edition.
