The Office of Special Prosecutor (OSP) has responded to claims that it lacks the authority to declare people wanted or to arrest suspects in its investigations without a warrant.
The OSP stated in a brief Facebook post that it has the authority to arrest without a warrant.
According to the OSP, it has the authority to arrest anyone it reasonably suspects of committing corruption or corruption-related offences.
”The general public is advised, that in exercise of its police powers, the Office of the Special Prosecutor can arrest without a warrant, any person it reasonably suspects of having committed corruption or corruption-related offences.”
