Former Secretary of the dissolved Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining, Charles Bissue, has withdrawn one of his lawsuits against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
On Thursday, June 22, 2023, lawyers for Charles Bissue informed the court that they had received instructions from their client to drop the application seeking to nullify an arrest warrant issued by the OSP.
Mr. Charles Bissue reported himself to the Office of Special Prosecutor, where he was arrested, interrogated, and later released on bail on Wednesday, June 21, 2023.
Meanwhile, two other cases filed by Charles Bissue against the Office of the special prosecutor are still pending.
The first case is at the Human Rights Court, where Mr. Bissue has raised concerns about human rights abuses.
The other case challenges the authority of the special prosecutor’s office to investigate him despite having been cleared by the Ghana Police Service.
