The National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate and party leadership stormed Parliament ahead of the swearing-in ceremony for re-elected Member of Parliament for Assin North, James Gyakye Quayson.
The day’s proceedings had not yet begun, but the former president, John.Dramani Mahama and some top NDC gurus had arrived to witness the ceremony.
The Minority Caucus is dressed in white to symbolise the MP-elect’s victory in the by-election.
However, the Majority Members of Parliament were still taking their places in the chamber ahead of the much-anticipated swearing-in ceremony.
Gyakye Quayson was re-elected in a by-election for the Assin North constituency, receiving 57.56 percent of the vote.
He received 17,245 votes, defeating Charles Opoku of the National People’s Party (NPP), who took 42.15 percent of the vote, and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), who received 0.29 percent.
