According to the Ghana Grid Company Ltd (GRIDCo), there is currently a shortage in thermal power generation.
The deficit GRIDCo said is due to limited gas supply from the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant (GPP) and the West African Gas pipeline (WAPCo).
According to the company, the deficit has created a supply gap of 650 MW at peak time which will affect consumers in some
parts of the country.
“Every effort is being made to restore gas supply from Atuabo. As the situation improves
power will be restored to affected customers.
The inconvenience caused is regretted,” the statement said.
The Elecricity Company of Ghana (ECG) had also issued a statement explaining to consumers that the disruptions are caused by gas supply challenges.
“As a result of the above, all Asogli phase-1 units, Cenpower and Aksa power plants have shut down leading to a generation shortfall,” the statement said.
It further disclosed that power would be fully restored by 9:00 pm in all the affected areas.
