Black Queens head coach Nora Hauptle has admitted Ghana has had a difficult route in their attempt to qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris, France.
The Black Queens have left the country for Conakry, Guinea, for the first leg of the doubleheader in the CAF Women’s Olympics Qualifiers.
Speaking to the press ahead of Friday’s first-leg encounter against Guinea, Hauptle opined that the rout is difficult, but there is still a chance.
“When you look at the draw, I think the first steps are very manageable,” she said.
“Somehow, we are going to face Zambia and Morocco. They are part of the World Cup, which begins in two weeks.
“So, it will not be an easy route, but I am pretty convinced that with the quality of players we have and a lot of matches, we have the chance to qualify.”
The Black Queens have never made an appearance since the Olympics were introduced, but Hauptle’s side is determined to make history in the next edition to be staged in Paris.
However, The Black Queen will have two more opponents to deal with before making it to Paris next year.
Ghana will face two of Africa’s representatives at the 2023 FIFA World Cup: Zambia and Morocco, should they overcome the challenge of facing Guinea on Friday.
