Benjamin Mendy found not guilty of all charges including rape

A former Manchester City footballer, Benjamin Mendy, has been found not guilty of raping a woman and attempting to rape another in a recent trial.

The professional footballer was accused of attacking a 24-year-old woman at his luxurious £4m mansion in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire, in October 2020.

He was also standing trial of attempted rape from a 29-year-old woman, who claimed that he had also molested her at his residence two years prior.

But the Chester Crown Court has found him not guilty to will the charges.

The jury delivered a verdict of not guilty.

The player broke down in tears upon hearing the verdict from the jury.

The jury, consisting of six men and six women, deliberated for approximately three hours and 15 minutes before reaching their conclusion.

Following the verdict, Judge Steven Everett announced that Mr. Mendy could be discharged from the dock.
