Augustine Gyau, a 17-year-old boy, perished in a water body after going swimming with a friend.
The friend he had gone swimming with claimed to have seen the boy enter the water and dive deeper than was recommended.
The friend added that after a few minutes, he only saw Gyau’s head and then nothing else.
The minor’s older brother was then contacted, but his attempts to rescue Gyau were unsuccessful.
The Ghana National Fire Service officials were notified, but they were also unable to save the boy.
Following the failed rescue attempts, Gyau’s family consulted Asuo Koraa Komfohemaa, Ante Ataa, who reportedly slaughtered one foul and poured a libation from a bottle of schnapps.
The lifeless body of Augustine Gyau was discovered floating on the water immediately after the location was poured.
He was later retrieved and deposited at the mortuary.
