A group of enraged young persons in the Ashanti Region’s Asokore Mampong Municipality stormed the Asawase Police Station.
The angry youth attacked the station following the death of a young guy in the area.
They claim that the young man was picked up by police officers during a swoop at a hideout and was manhandled, resulting in his death.
Following this, the enraged youth rushed the Asawase police station, pelting stones and vandalising other things in the premises.
The police station is temporarily off the grid due to metre damage.
To prevent an escalation, there is a substantial police presence in the vicinity.
Meanwhile, Gideon Okai, the Assembly member for the area, said that various items at the station had been destroyed.
He also stated that the Police Department had disputed the allegations levelled against them.
