An okada rider in his late twenties has lost a leg and is in serious condition after a Police convoy from Accra to Takoradi allegedly knocked him down at Gomoa Buduatta on the Kasoa Cape Coast route of the Central.
The event is reported to have happened over the weekend.
According to several eyewitnesses, the Police convoy overtook the motorcyclist and knocked him down, however the convoy failed to transport the rider to the hospital.
The rider’s leg was severed quickly, and he was transported to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Some eyewitnesses reported that the convoy could be that of the Vice President.
They also revealed it was some friends of the rider who mobilised and sent the rider to the Hospital for medical care.
“The rider was knocked down by the police convoy, and his leg was instantly severed.” They abandoned him and drove away after the incident. Some of the rider’s pals rallied and took him to the hospital. The rider was screaming in agony. “He lost his left leg,” said the eyewitness.
“We heard the Vice President was having an event in Takoradi,” another eyewitness remarked. We carried some loads from the area, thus we spotted the convoy travelling to Takoradi. Another witness claimed that this is what caused the accident.
