Kennedy Agyapong, Assin Central MP and New Patriotic Party (NPP) aspiring presidential candidate, has backtracked on his criticism of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as a lousy strategist.
The lawmaker explained that his remarks were not aimed at the second gentleman of the land, as some had assumed.
During a recent campaign visit, Mr. Agyapong chastised several members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for being poor at strategy.
Some claimed the comments were directed at the Vice President especially when the MP had also referenced the performance of cedi and economy.
He stresses, however, that his words were not meant at Dr. Bawumia, whom he regards highly and considers to be an effective leader.
Speaking in an interview with Home Radio in the Upper West Region, Mr. Agyapong said
“I have the utmost respect for Vice President Bawumia and his strategic thinking. He has demonstrated time and again his ability to effectively strategize for the benefit of the party and the country as a whole”.
He also believed that some party officials and government appointees should reconsider their approaches.
To the party’s leadership he advised them to act quickly in recognising and resolving challenges confronting the elephant family.
He asked the media to also be circumspect in the reportage and always report accurately.
