Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak, has facilitated the construction and installation of ten (10) hand pumps in several localities in the Builsa South constituency.
In early 2023, the MP was reminded of the pressing need for boreholes in various localities in the Builsa South constituency.
The MP engaged the District Assembly and authorised the drilling through his office in a letter dated February 15, 2023.

Fumbisi was assigned three of these boreholes, which are located in Suik, Bachiesa, and Baasa.
Gbedema’s two were built in Jagsa Gunta and Garibeansa.
The remaining five were constructed in Abaa-yeri: Uwasi Lovogsa: Kanjarga, Nakpansa: Gbedembilisi, Goag: Wiesi, and Banyasa: Doninga.
According to the MP, as much as the Builsa South constituency aspires to give a good drinking source of water to its residents, the MP’s office is always available to any of the localities that need assistance in providing the same.
Beneficiary communities expressed their gratitude for the initiatives, which relieved them of the stress of obtaining and drawing water from unsanitary sources.
During the MP’s visit to the locality to assess the impact of the borehole, Mr Anaab, a native of Abaa-yeri, recounted how the water crisis had bedevilled them since he was born, with only one borehole despite increased population and settlement expansion.
He regretted that the women had to wait all day for their turn, and the water obtained could not even meet the demands of the household.
While thanking the MP, Madam Gloria of Lovogsa stated that “the water problem at the time made all aspects of life in my community difficult.” As a stay-at-home mom, I can’t completely express how much anguish this situation caused me. I am a mother, and the issue has had an impact on my children’s schooling because they have to walk a considerable distance and queue each morning before getting water to bathe for school, which causes them to be perpetually late.”
Bachiesa was no exception. Mr. Pius Akpai recounts, “The greatest difficulty my village faced throughout its existence without a solution was finding enough water for everyone.” Many partners attempted to assist us but were unsuccessful. Now, my community and I are enjoying this joy as a result of the MP’s intervention; this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.” These are by far the social interventions we want from our leaders.
