One of the Ghanaian expeditioners embarking on the perilous journey from Ghana to Europe via West African borders, Kojo Saka Addo Mensah, has detailed their journey thus far.
They had travelled 7000 kilometres from Accra through West and North Africa when they granted an interview to Rainbow Radio’s “The Frontline” morning show host Daniel Dadson in Spain.
He told the host that one of them suggested they go on the journey, and the rest, as they say, is history.
He stated that when the idea was proposed, he was called and agreed, but they were originally supposed to embark on the journey two years ago, but the outbreak of COVID-19 prevented them due to the closure of the borders.
He claims they will travel to Monaco, Geneva, Paris, and other European countries before finally arriving in the UK on August 8, 2023.
”The idea behind embarking on the journey was to show the world, particularly Africans, that we are also capable of an adventure in Africa. We wanted to let people know they could drive from Africa to Europe.”
The other point is for them to promote Ghana and their own businesses and to raise funds for digitization in Ghana’s underserved communities.
”We are raising $100,000 to promote digitization drives in impoverished communities in Ghana,” he stated emphatically.
He also revealed that they were a group of bankers, real estate developers, printing press gurus, and other professionals on the journey.
