Three members of the Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold have committed suicide as a result of their inability to reclaim their investment from the now-defunct gold dealership company, Menzgold.
This was disclosed by a leading member of the Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold.
He said out of the over 200 members who have died, 3 of them committed suicide following their inability to retrieve their investment from the defunct gold dealership company, Menzgold.
He stated that the members are in a severe financial predicament as a result of the circumstance, and it appears that no one is interested in their problems.
He revealed this when the group’s leadership met with the Speaker about a petition they had presented to parliament.
He described the harsh difficulties that the impacted members are facing, as well as how they have resulted in 210 deaths in recent years. He begged the Speaker to expedite the move.
The Rt. Hon Speaker Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin has intimated that he plans to form a five-member committee to investigate a petition filed by Menzgold consumers and report back to the House for consideration.
According to the Speaker, the petition, which has now gone through the proper House procedures to become a motion, will be admitted before the House goes on break, and a Committee will be formed to consider the concerns of the displeased customers and debate the report when the House returns from break.
The Member of Parliament for South Dayi, Hon. Rockson Nelson Kwame Etse Dafeamekpor, who submitted the motion to the Speaker, acknowledged the challenges the motion faces because the matter is before the court, but pleaded with the Speaker that because the matter is only before the court, the Speaker can admit the motion for the House to consider the Committee’s report.
The group expressed gratitude to the Speaker and prayed that their concerns would be addressed and brought to finality soon.
