Samamiah Shipping Enterprise is collaborating with the Suhum Education Directorate to provide first-aid training to local teachers and non-teaching staff.
Mr. Samuel Mascot Amia, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, stated that the training is intended to provide beneficiaries with training on how to best provide first aid care.
Speaking on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Frontline, the businessman said he got the idea after seeing how poorly a community teacher handled an injured student some time ago.
According to him, the scenario concerned him, and in order to assist in resolving the issue, he has decided to sponsor this initiative to assist in providing First Aid training to teachers.
He told host Kwabena Agyapong that learning first aid was critical and that the benefits of first aid training were enormous.
He proposed that first aid will, among other things, provide teachers with the tools to prevent the situation from worsening, instill confidence in teachers to care for their students, and encourage healthy and safe living.
He explained that not all accidents, injuries, or illnesses necessitate a trip to the hospital because first aid can reduce the risks associated with a student’s injuries or conditions.
He also stated that the training has benefited two communities and that it is being expanded to include all teachers in the area.
Meanwhile, he has urged the Ministry of Education to implement a training programme for Ghanaian teachers on first aid.
He stated that the training will benefit over 960 teaching and non-teaching staff.
The next group is expected to meet at Akravu, the Pentecost Church, from Monday, August 14 to Tuesday, August 15, 2023, for the training.
On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, the training exercise will move to the Suhum Central East Circuit at the Suhum St. Theresa Catholic Church.
The Suhum West Circuit training will also be held at the Catholic Church from August 18 to 19, 2023.
