A 48-year-old woman was drenched in boiling soup over a Ghc 20 Cedis debt in Assin Asamankese, Assin South District, Central Region.

According to the victim, Adwoa Ketsewa, she borrowed Ghc 20 from a fish seller to buy fish for her family.

However, she was unable to repay the merchant on time, resulting in a misunderstanding that resulted in her being attacked.

The woman described her ordeal, saying the one she was indebted to instructed her daughter to come get the money.

But she (the victim) advised the daughter to go back and inform the mother that she did not have money at the moment and would pay the next day.

She was preparing food at the moment, so she requested the small girl to wait so she could eat before leaving.

The girl subsequently left after waiting for a while.

Adwoa Ketsewa went on to say that she later observed the young girl and her grandmother walking towards her home.

She stated that the woman arrived angrily demanding the money.

She begged the woman to come back on Wednesday for the money because that was the original agreement they had.

That didn’t sit well with the accused attacker, who seized her saucepan and stated it would be used to pay for the fish.

The victim fought and sought the return of her saucepan.

The victim fell during the process because the ground was slick after a rainstorm.

Her assailant allegedly kicked the boiling soup, which was on fire, and then dumped it on the victim.

She was injured, and the suspect has yet to be apprehended.
