Students at the Jasikan College of Education in the Oti region have been vocal in their dissatisfaction with the unhealthy and insufficient food provided to them.
The students told Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm’s Nyankonton Mu Nsem that they are tired of ‘kooko’ without sugar and milk.
According to them, the food they have been fed over time has not been the best, with the school’s administration feeding them porridge without the necessary accompaniments such as sugar, milk, and bread.
”The management of the school has not provided us with healthy meals,” one of the students stated. We’ve been fed unwholesome meals since the last semester. We are fed porride without sugar, bread, and milk from Monday to Friday. We never complained, but it is currently unvearable. They expect us to bring our own sugar, bread, and milk.
They do not include meat or fish in our soup. We have paid for the meals, but we are not well fed.”
Another major issue she bemoaned was the disconnection of power in their cubicles and other locations where they could charge their devices.
The student stated that the school is complaining about how much electricity they are consuming.
Meanwhile, Freeman Zokha of the Student’s Representative Council (SRC) stated that GH51 has been deducted from their monthly allowances to supplement the allocated feeding grants.
