Members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region have thrown their support behind Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia ahead of their super delegates meeting.
They believe that Dr. Bawumia is still the greatest choice for the NPP and that voting for him is not a waste of time.
They have consequently urged delegates in the region to vote for Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Vice President, to lead the party in the forthcoming 2024 general election.
Speaking to the media during a news conference, Mr. Jibil Alhasan Ziblim, vice chairman of the identified groups for Bawumia, said it is critical for delegates to make the right choice by delivering Dr Mahamudu Bawumia a resounding victory in the primary.
He said that Dr. Bawumia has demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt that he is the best candidate among the lot, and the only person they believe can deliver a better Ghana.
He stated that the NPP must not tolerate the claim that the party will employ and then dump Bawumia since he is from the Northern area.
He observed that former President John Dramani Mahama made similar accusations, adding that if Bawumia loses the process, the NPP will be saddled with an albatross around its neck.
He emphasised that delegates should vote en masse for Dr. Bawumia because he is the only candidate who can win the 2024 election.
Hon. Halidu Seidu, former MCE for Asokore Mampong, also indicated that Dr. Bawumia is the best pick for the party.
He claims that if the super delegates vote for Dr Bawumia, the polling station executives will reciprocate by voting for these MPs and Constituency Chairmen in the upcoming parliamentary primaries and constituency elections.
This is why we are repeating their mantra: “you do us, and we do you.”
He made a sincere and passionate plea to MPs and Constituency Chairmen to support Vice President Bawumia as our Presidential candidate in the 2024 election.”
