Mr. Dennis Opoku Katakyie, National President of the NABCO Trainees Association of Ghana (NABTAG) and Spartans for NPP, says failure by the government to clear outstanding arrears owing them could force the party into opposition.
As a result, he has charged President Akufo-Addo with settling the arrears owed to them as soon as possible.
This, in his opinion, will boost their prospects of winning the presidential election in 2024.
In an interview with journalists, Mr. Dennis Katakyie stated that the NPP’s Breaking the 8 agenda is not only a song to sing, and that the NPP must work hard and be watchful in order to achieve it.
He emphasised the importance of the government clearing the debts since failure to do so “will severely limit their chances of winning the 2024 elections.”
He emphasised that, despite the contract between the government and the NABCO Trainees having expired, the government still owes them around 8 to 10 months in arrears.
He praised the NABCO effort for focusing on unemployed graduates.
However, the arrears owed to the recipients hurt them and caused numerous of them upset.
He went on to say that the vast majority of NABCO beneficiaries contributed significantly to President Akufo Addo’s win in the 2020 general elections.
He stated that they hoped the programme would have been continued beyond a year because of the sacrifices and contributions they made in assuring the NPP’s win.
Another thing he indicated they hoped for was permanent work through NABCO, but that didn’t happen.
