Some young persons in Aboabo, a Tamale neighbourhood, attacked and chased away the judge who was sitting over the case of one Alhaji Osman for alleged drug selling.
The aggrieved youth assaulted and stole the weapon of one of the police officers who had come to keep the peace and order at the district court.
The circumstance prompted the firing of warning shots.
Our correspondent Prince Kwame Tamakloe stated on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5 FM that the youth burned automobile tyres.
The culprit was reportedly apprehended as a result of traditional leaders’ attempts to crack down on the illicit drug trade.
According to him, a task force was also formed in response to drug misuse by young people in the neighbourhood.
He said that after the suspect was denied bail, the enraged youth went berserk and allegedly fired rounds at the courthouse.
Meanwhile, the suspect was taken into custody and is now in prison.
